Evans Gifts & Interiors

Challenge

The brief was to update the current Evans logo without losing its brand identity. With the shop move looming it was more important than ever that the new retail logo would still be recognisable to current customers passing by the premises.

The current logo was Green and Gold with an italic subtitle. To update their logo we felt their whole colour scheme needed to be updated and felt that changing the green to grey would lift the logo, bringing it up to date with the current trends. Keeping the gold would keep the logo familiar to their sizable customer base.

Action

With the new shop occupying an old manor house in one of the oldest villages in Suffolk, it was important to reflect the identity of the building in the logo. And to keep the design sympathetic to the feel of the shop and reflect the vision of the owners. We decided to keep the ‘Evans’ font the same for the main part of the logo so it
would still be recognisable. We then updated the italic subtitle to a more current font with a wider spacing so it sits well, below. It also gives a clear description of
the shop to customers.

To give the logo an elegant and luxurious feel we designed an ‘E’ for Evans that could be placed in the background. This can also be carried through on stationary for a lovely flowing brand identity. It can also be placed behind names on a business card.

Result

By making these subtle but very important changes the logo was brought up to date with current trends. It came to life and flowed beautifully with the new retail shop. The Gold and Grey looks ‘classic’, luxurious and rejuvenated which represents the shops stylish boutique feel.
